▪ The Tobacco Board has authorized a crop size of 50.15 Mil.Kgs for crop year 2025 in the SLS region with the estimated quantity reaching 76.2 Mil.Kgs.
▪ Auctions commenced with top price of INR 280/-($3.18) as against INR 230 ($2.70) during previous year.
▪ As of 8th of August, a total volume of 46.29 Mil Kgs has been marketed at an average price of INR 238.52 ($2.71) per kg with the top price being escalated to INR 316/-($ 3.59/kg)
▪ For the 2026 crop, the Tobacco Board has authorized 48.1 Mil.Kgs from the light soil region. Given the continued demand from the global market and reduced crop size the potential increase could be as follows:
▪ Bright Grades: 19.8% (compared to 2025); 3.8% (compared to 2024)
▪ Medium Grades: 13.3% (compared to 2025); -9.52% (compared to 2024)
▪ Low Grades: 31.8% (compared to 2025); -3.69% (compared to 2024)
Note 1: Most of the yet to be marketed crop comprises of Bright & Medium grades and hence the Average price is expected to increase by the end of auctions. This means the above percentages will decrease by the end.
